Harris Corporation Awarded $17 Million Order to Supply Tactical Radios to Middle East Nation

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 31, 2016 - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has received a $17 million order to supply Falcon III(r) multiband networking radios to a nation in the Middle East as part of a tactical communications modernization program.

The Harris RF-7850M radios will provide wideband networking to forces at the brigade level and below and will deliver command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities. The RF-7850M is the first international tactical radio to simultaneously support wideband communications, mobile ad-hoc networking, and legacy narrowband waveforms.

Harris Corporation has won a place on a $12.7 billion U.S. Army indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 1 (UPI) -- Harris Corporation has won a place on a $12.7 billion U.S. Army indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for HMS Manpack radios.

The contract, which is also held by two other companies, is for five years with one five-year option. The $12.7 billion is the contract's maximum ceiling amount.

The Army expects full-rate production of the radios to start in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2017 and to eventually obtain about 65,000 units through the awards, Harris said.

"The HMS Manpack award is a major step forward for the U.S. Army's tactical radio modernization program, and brings essential battlefield networking and communications capabilities to the warfighter," said Brendan O'Connell, president, Tactical Communications, Harris Communication Systems. Harris' Falcon III AN/PRC-158 multi-channel radio for both dismounted and mounted manpack configurations will be supplied to the Army. Ir features a two-channel architecture and integrated cross-banding. It also features SRW, SINCGARS and MUOS SATCOM waveforms and is interoperabile with legacy waveforms.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 29, 2015 - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has been awarded a single-source IDIQ contract with a ceiling value of $390 million to supply a new specialized handheld tactical radio to U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF). The IDIQ contract consists of a five-year base and an additional one-year option.

Under the SOF Tactical Communications (STC) program, Harris will provide its new integrated two-channel, handheld radio that combines communications and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to address the SOF's unique mission needs. The Harris STC handheld radio can operate in the harshest environments and meets rigorous requirements for small, lightweight, multiband, multifunction, multi-mission tactical radios. It can be upgraded easily and has built-in backward interoperability to communicate over legacy networks.

The Harris STC handheld radio enables SOF teams to communicate over multiple channels simultaneously with an integrated Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, and the ability to receive ISR full-motion video and signals-based threat information. Harris Corporation Radios Complete User Testing During US Army Network Integration Evaluation

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 25, 2015 — Harris Corporation's (NYSE:HRS) Mid-tier Networking Vehicular Radio (MNVR) has completed testing at the Army's Network Integration Evaluation 15.2 held at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

The MNVR Limited User Test (LUT) was conducted to test the ability of soldiers at the company level to effectively use the MNVR to talk and send data, images and video to the battalion and brigade levels. Harris will review the results and incorporate changes as necessary before the Initial Operation Test and Evaluation in the spring of 2016.

"These tests are important because they subject the radios to a wide range of operational and environmental conditions that soldiers may face during real-world missions," said George Helm, president, Department of Defense Business, Harris RF Communications. "The MNVR LUT is a great example of the benefits of defense marketplace competition because it demonstrates the value of private sector innovation to quickly bring better solutions from concept to fielding."

The Harris MNVR, which uses the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) and Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), operates as a node in a mobile network, so information can hop from one MNVR system to another until it reaches its destination. At the LUT, battlefield conditions were used to determine how the WNW and SRW waveforms would perform with regard to message completion rates, latency and voice quality. Testers evaluated the radio using 23 different cases that ensured the network routing was properly configured.

Harris Corporation Successfully Demonstrates MUOS Waveform Operating On-Air

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has successfully conducted satellite communications calls using two Falcon III(r) AN/PRC-117G tactical radios with the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) waveform. MUOS is the next-generation U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) military communications system for delivering mobile satellite connectivity through tactical radios.

The end-to-end, on-air demonstration calls took place during the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), May 19-21, in Tampa, Florida. The calls validated the ability of the AN/PRC-117G, a fielded multiband manpack radio, to run the narrowband MUOS service with a software-only upgrade.
